Heart-Felt Brown Bag Discussion
"Here in Rhode Island, we’ve been having brown bag discussions to really connect with our customers. During our last discussion, I met a new friend who told me about his cardiologist’s recent recommended strength for his heart medication. I discovered two issues that I felt needed attention from his cardiologist.
"First, my friend needed a sub-therapeutic dosage of his medication to help prevent his angina attacks. Secondly, he needed to know which stomach medication and dosage he should be taking to treat his stomach acid problem, as he’d been given several samples.
"During my friend’s next appointment, the cardiologist reviewed his chart, then adjusted the strength of the angina medication, and talked to him about which stomach medication to take. The physician commented on how appreciative he was of our medication therapy management intervention, and that more patients and physicians should take advantage of their Health Mart pharmacist's expertise regarding appropriate drug therapy.
"Needless to say, my new friend was very appreciative. He could not wait to go home, start the new strength medication, and FEEL BETTER. In this case, the Rhode Island brown bag discussion was a huge success, and we’re looking forward to more!"
